Greyhounds Capture Eight Straight Victory with Defeat of Susquehanna

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian University women's tennis squad captured its eighth straight victory with a 9-0 sweep of Susquehanna University in Landmark Conference action at Hoffman Courts Saturday.

How It Happened

  • The Hounds jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the doubles action. Seniors Gabby Martin and Megan O'Brien started the contest with an 8-2 win at third doubles while senior Emily Masters and freshman Sydney Shifman posted an 8-6 victory at second doubles. Senior Mara Stapleton and sophomore Izzy Szmodis finished doubles with an 8-4 triumph at first doubles
  • The Blue & Grey also captured all six singles matches in straight sets. Szmodis finished first with at first singles while Shifman earned the winning team point at third singles. Freshman Ali Bender won at second singles before wins from Stapleton at fourth singles, Martin at fifth singles and Masters at sixth singles completed the contest
  • Prior to the match, Stapleton was presented the Dawn Ketterman-Benner Award for dedication and commitment to the Moravian Women's Tennis Program
