BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian University women's tennis team dropped its first Landmark Conference match of the 2023-24 season, falling to visiting Drew University, 6-3, at Hoffman Courts Tuesday as the Hounds lost for the first time since October 5.
How It Happened
- The Greyhounds earned the first point of the match as the tandem of senior Mara Stapleton and sophomore Izzy Szmodis earned an 8-1 victory at second doubles. However, the Rangers captured the other two contests to take a 2-1 lead into singles
- Drew won the first three singles matches to finish to take a 5-1 advantage before freshman Sydney Shifman earned a 6-4, 6-3 triumph at fourth singles. Freshman Ali Bender made it 5-3 with a three-set win at third singles while the Rangers captured the final singles contest to finish, a three-set match at sixth singles as senior Gabby Martin nearly rallied for the win before falling in the final set
