Volleyball Picked 4th in Landmark Preseason Poll

MADISON, N.J. – The Moravian College women's volleyball team has been selected fourth in the 2012 Landmark Conference season in a preseason poll selected by the conference's head coaches.

Defending Landmark Conference Champion Juniata College was picked first in the poll with 60 points and six first-place votes while Susquehanna University was second with 41 points and one first-place vote. The Catholic University of America sits in third with 38 points while the Greyhounds are fourth with 27. The University of Scranton is fifth with 22 points, Goucher College is sixth with 17 points and The United States Merchant Marine Academy is seventh with 12 points.

Moravian looks for score its third straight 20-win season and eighth straight postseason appearance. The Greyhounds are returning nine letterwinners from last fall while bringing in five rookies for the 2012 campaign that will be headed by 20th-year head coach Shelley Bauder. Bauder enters the season just 11 wins shy of 400 for her career.

Senior All-American libero Jesse Krasley (Allentown, Pa./Parkland) and classmate All-American right-side hitter Samantha Savite (Long Valley, N.J./West Morris Central) will lead the way for Moravian this season. Krasley currently holds all the dig records at Moravian while Savite led the Greyhounds with 347 kills last fall.

Junior middle blocker Britany O'Hara (Perkasie, Pa./Pennridge) had a team-high 95 blocks in 2011 while classmate setter Kelly Brown (Bethlehem, Pa./Bethlehem Catholic) had a team-best 1,110 assists.

Moravian kicks off its season this weekend as they host the Greyhounds Premiere Invitational. On Friday, August 31st, Moravian will play King's College at 4 p.m. and Wesley College at 8 p.m. in Johnston Hall.
