Volleyball Earns Record-Breaking 28th Win in 3-0 Rout of PSU-Abington

BETHLHEM, Pa. – The No. 2 seed Moravian College volleyball team defeated No. 7 seed Penn State-Abington, 3-0, in the ECAC Division III South Quarterfinals on Wednesday night. The win marks the 28th of the season for the Greyhounds, breaking the single-season win record previously set at 27 back in 1992 and 1998.

Moravian won by set scores of 25-13, 25-10 and 25-11 in the victory. The Greyhounds also tallied 17 service aces in the match.

Freshman middle blocker Victoria Bobyak led the way with nine kills and one block while senior right-side hitter Samantha Savite put up six kills and four aces. Junior setter Kelly Brown totaled 26 assists and five digs while sophomore outside hitter Kelianne Comitalo had four aces and three kills.

Junior libero Jesse Krasley had nine digs, two assists and ace while junior middle blocker Brittany O'Hara tallied four kills and a dig.Senior outside hitter JeanAnne Carey put up three kills and two digs while freshman outside hitter Laruen Hostetler finished with three kills and two aces.

Sophomore outside hitter Taylor Jennings totaled up three kills while junior right-side hitter Katelynn Strohl tallied up two aces, a dig and a kill. Freshman setter Megan Szkolnicki added two aces while freshman defensive specialist Michelle Ciccone had three digs and an ace.

The Nittany Lions were led by freshman outside hitter Abby Millan, who had seven kills and two digs. Sophomore setter Leah Brown finished with 12 assists while senior outside hitter Johangelie Thomas had four kills and two digs.

The Greyhounds move on to play No. 3 seed Swarthmore College in the ECAC South Semifinals on Saturday, November 10th. The match is set to take place at Bethany College at 2:00 p.m. Bethany will take on Cabrini College in the other semifinal match. The winners of those two matches will then battle for the ECAC Division III South Championship.
