HUNTINGDON, Pa. --- The Moravian University women's volleyball team dropped its first two Landmark Conference matches of the 2021 season, falling to No. 12 Juniata College and Susquehanna University by 3-0 scores.
How It Happened - Juniata
- The No. 12 ranked Eagles took the opening set by a score of 25-9
- Moravian sophomore defensive specialist Kat DeYesso served three straight points in the set but Juniata earn the win 25-11
- The Blue and Grey trailed 4-1 in the third set before closing within 6-4; however, the Eagles captured the set 25-12 to win the match
How It Happened - Susquehanna
- The Greyhounds fell behind 6-2 in the opening set before junior defensive specialist Gabby Mancini served the Blue & Grey into a 6-6 tie. The set remained close with Moravian leading 21-19 with sophomore defensive specialist Emily Szy serving. However, the River Hawks scored six of the final eight points to earn a 25-23 set win
- The second set was all River Hawks with Susquehanna extending its lead to 2-0 with a 25-8 set victory
- Susquehanna jumped out to a 7-1 lead in the third set and would win the match by taking the game 25-16
Inside the Numbers
- Senior outside hitter Sela Herber had 10 kills and 22 digs in the two matches for the Hounds while freshman middle blocker Jenna Deegan contributed 10 kills and three blocks
- Senior outside hitter Kirah Dreisbach contributed six kills and 27 digs while freshman right side hitter Makenzie Krasley had six kills and five digs
- Junior setter Natalia Matos recorded 26 assists and 11 digs while Szy contributed 14 digs. Mancini posted 14 digs and DeYesso had eight digs
