GWYNEDD VALLEY, Pa. --- The Moravian University women's volleyball squad swept host Gwynedd Mercy University, 3-0, in non-conference action Thursday evening.
How It Happened
- The opening set was back-and-forth early with the Griffins holding a 5-3 lead. The Hounds ran off eight straight points with freshman outside hitter Gabbie Reigner serving to move ahead 12-5. The Blue & Grey controlled the rest of the set to earn a 25-15 victory to start the contest
- The second set was close the entire way with the largest lead coming from Gwynedd Mercy at 14-10 and 18-14. Trailing, 24-22, Moravian scored the final four points of the game with sophomore setter Ally Plitnick serving to take record a 26-24 win for a 2-0 edge
- The Griffins opened up an early 5-0 lead in the third set. The Hounds slowly chipped away and eventually took an 18-17 lead enroute to a 25-20 victory to complete the sweep
Inside the Numbers
- Reigner led Moravian with 11 kills, 13 digs and four service aces while freshman middle blocker Payton Reuber also contributed 11 kills in the win
- Junior outside hitter Jenna Deegan recorded five kills and a pair of digs while freshman outside hitter Kelly Tempalsky had five kills and two digs and senior middle blocker Autumn Marrero posted three kills, two blocks and a pair of dig
- Plitnick ran the Greyhounds' offense with 28 assists to go along with five digs while freshman defensive specialist Sam Love added a team-high 21 digs and five assists
- Senior defensive specialist Kat DeYesso registered eight digs while senior defensive specialist Allie Ludlow have five digs
