BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian University women's volleyball squad earned a 3-1 non-conference victory over visiting Penn State-Harrisburg in Johnston Hall Tuesday evening.
How It Happened
- The Nittany Lions broke open the first set by winning nine of 10 points to take an 11-4 edge. The Greyhounds closed to within 11-8 before Penn State-Harrisburg pulled away again. Moravian countered twice more to get within a point on two occasions at 17-16 and 21-20. However, the Lions scored the final five points to take the opening set 25-20
- The second set was back-and-forth early until freshman outside hitter Gabbie Reigner served four straight points to put the Blue & Grey up 10-6. The Hounds pulled away from that point to take the game 25-13 and even the match at 1-1
- The third set was tight throughout with the contest tied 11 times, the final at 16-16 before Moravian outscored Penn State-Harrisburg, 9-6, over the remainder of the set for the 25-20 win and a 2-1 advantage
- In the fourth set trailing, 4-3, senior defensive specialist Allie Ludlow served up four straight points to put the Hounds in the lead for good. Moravian took the set 25-18 to close out the match
Inside the Numbers
- Reigner led the Greyhounds with 12 kills, 14 digs and a pair of service aces while Junior outside hitter Jenna Deegan added 10 kills
- Graduate student outside hitter Kat Wilt recorded eight kills, five service aces, two digs and a pair of assists while senior middle blocker Autumn Marrero contributed five kills, three service aces and two blocks
- Sophomore setter Ally Plitnick registered 29 assists, 11 digs and five kills while freshman outside hitter Julia Zaprazny had four kills and two blocks
- Ludlow finished with nine digs, three service aces and three assists while freshman defensive specialist Sam Love added 17 digs and six assists
- Senior defensive specialist Emily Szy contributed seven digs while senior defensive specialist Kat DeYesso posted two digs
