HUNTINGDON, Pa. --- The Moravian University women's volleyball squad opened its 2023 Landmark Conference season with a 3-0 loss at No. 1 Juniata College Friday evening.
How It Happened
- The Eagles opened up a 3-0 lead to start the match before the Greyhounds responded to knot the score at 4-4. Moravian ran off three straight points a little later to get back within one at 9-8, but Juniata pulled away to take the first set 25-13
- The second set saw the Eagles with a 3-2 edge when Juniata scored seven consecutive points to stretch the lead on the way to a 25-11 set victory and a 2-0 lead
- The third set saw the Eagles get out to an 11-2 edge before a 25-14 win to capture the match
Inside the Numbers
- Freshman outside hitter Gabbie Reigner led Moravian with three kills and five digs while senior outside hitter Sophie Bauer added a pair of kills
- Junior outside hitter Jenna Deegan also had two kills to go with three digs while freshman defensive specialist Sam Love contributed eight digs and a pair of assists
- Sophomore setter Ally Plitnick registered four assists and four digs while senior defensive specialist Kat DeYessoposted two service aces and two digs
- Senior defensive specialist Allie Ludlow had three digs while senior middle blocker Autumn Marrero added a pair of blocks
