Moravian Wins Second Straight Landmark Conference Match with Victory at Wilkes

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. --- The Moravian University women's volleyball squad won its second straight Landmark Conference match with a 3-1 victory at Wilkes University Tuesday evening.

How It Happened

  • The opening set saw the host Colonels with a 6-3 lead before the Hounds tied the game at 6-6. Wilkes countered with 10 straight points to go up 16-6. Moravian pulled within four points at 18-14 while the Colonels had another run to make it 24-14 before winning the set 25-15 and a 1-0 edge
  • The Blue & Grey controlled the second set from the beginning with a quick 5-1 lead. The Greyhounds pushed the advantage to 19-7 and captured the game 25-15 to even the match score at 1-1
  • The third set saw the Colonels leading 7-5 before seven consecutive points put Moravian ahead 12-7. Wilkes knotted the game at 14-14, and the Colonels led 19-18. The Hounds countered with seven of the last nine points for a 25-21 set victory and a 2-1 lead
  • The Colonels once again had an early 5-1 edge in the fourth set, and Wilkes was still in front 10-8 when Moravian ran off six straight points. The Colonels tied the game once more at 15-15 before the Greyhounds had a 10-2 run to end the set with a 25-17 victory to clinch the match

Inside the Numbers

  • Freshman outside hitter Kelly Tempalsky led the Greyhounds with nine kills to go with a pair of digs while freshman outside hitter Gabbie Reigner added five kills, 11 digs and three service aces
  • Freshman middle blocker Payton Reuber also had five kills to go with six blocks while junior right side hitter Makenzie Krasley contributed four kills and two digs
  • Senior middle blocker Autumn Marrero registered three digs and five blocks while junior outside hitter Jenna Deegan had two kills and three blocks
  • Sophomore setter Ally Plitnick paced the Hounds with 20 assists and 18 digs to go with a pair of service aces while freshman defensive specialist Sam Love recorded 15 digs, seven assists and two service aces
  • Senior defensive specialist Allie Ludlow contributed nine digs while senior defensive specialist Kat DeYesso  added five digs
