Moravian Rallies for Landmark Conference Win at Goucher

TOWSON, Md. --- The Moravian University women's volleyball squad rallied from a 2-0 deficit to earn a 3-2 victory in Landmark Conference action at Goucher College Saturday afternoon.

How It Happened

  • The Greyhounds had a 9-6 lead in the opening set, and Blue & Grey were still up 18-14 when the Gophers rallied. Goucher took a 20-19 edge before three points from Moravian had the Hounds leading 22-20. The Gophers then scored five of the next six points for a 25-23 set win to begin the match
  • The second set saw Goucher with an early 5-3 advantage, and the Gophers were up 10-6 before Moravian started to claw back as the Greyhounds moved ahead 14-12. Goucher retook a 20-16 lead, and the Gophers went on to capture the set 25-21 to take a 2-0 lead
  • The third set went back-and-forth as well. Goucher cut Moravian's edge to 10-9 before a 6-1 run from the Hounds put them in control. The Blue & Grey won the set, 25-16, to cut the deficit to 2-1
  • The Greyhounds controlled the fourth set from the beginning with a quick 4-0 lead. The Gophers closed within two points at 12-10 but would not get any closer as Moravian earned a 25-13 set win to force the fifth and deciding game
  • Like the fourth set, the fifth set as all Greyhounds with an early 4-1 edge on the way to a 15-6 victory to finish the comeback 

Inside the Numbers

  • Freshman middle blocker Payton Reuber led the Hounds with 2o kills to go along with four blocks and four digs while junior outside hitter Jenna Deegan contributed 17 kills
  • Freshman outside hitter Gabbie Reigner recorded 10 kills and 16 digs for the Hounds while senior middle blocker Autumn Marrero added eight kills, five digs, three service aces and three assists
  • Freshman outside hitter Kelly Tempalsky registered seven kills and three digs while junior right side hitter Makenzie Krasley had a pair of kills and six digs
  • Junior setter Emily Solomon posted a team-high 29 assists to go with five kills and three digs while sophomore setter Ally Plitnick contributed 16 assists, three digs and a pair of service aces
  • Freshman libero Sam Love led the Blue & Grey with 18 digs to go with five assists while senior defensive specialist Allie Ludlow had 11 digs
  • Senior defensive specialists Emily Szy and Kat DeYesso both had four digs with Szy adding three service aces
