BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian University women's volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision to visiting Elizabethtown College in Landmark Conference action in Johnston Hall Friday evening.
How It Happened
- The opening set would go back-and-forth most of the way. The Blue Jays had an 11-8 lead, but the Greyhounds rallied to tie the game at 14-14. Elizabethtown opened back up a three-point edge at 18-15, and the Blue Jays went on for a 25-19 set victory and a 1-0 advantage
- The Hounds had the early edge in the second set with a 4-2 lead, and the Blue & Grey were up 8-5 before Elizabethtown ran points together to move ahead 12-10. Moravian countered, and the Greyhounds took a 16-13 lead. Moravian was still up three points at 21-18 when the Blue Jays scored five consecutive points to retake the lead for good as Elizabethtown won the set 25-22 for a 2-0 edge
- The Greyhounds scored the opening point in the third back; however, the Blue Jays scored 16 of the next 17 points to take a 16-2 lead. Moravian did score seven of the final nine points in the set, but Elizabethtown won 25-13 to finish the match
Inside the Numbers
- Freshman outside hitter Gabbie Reigner led the Hounds with seven kills to go with seven digs while senior middle blocker Autumn Marrero contributed five kills, a pair of service aces and a block
- Freshman outside hitter Kelly Tempalsky recorded four kills while junior right side hitter Makenzie Krasley had three kills
- Freshman middle blocker Payton Reuber added two kills and two blocks
- Sophomore setter Ally Plitnick registered 10 assists and six digs while junior setter Emily Solomon had seven assists
- Freshman libero Sam Love led Moravian with 18 digs to go with a pair of assists while senior defensive specialist Allie Ludlow had 14 digs and senior defensive specialist Kat DeYesso added 10 digs
