Moravian Falls to Susquehanna in Final Landmark Conference Match of 2023

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian University women's volleyball squad fell to visiting Susquehanna University, 30, in the final Landmark Conference match of the 2023 season in Johnston Hall Saturday afternoon.

How It Happened

  • The River Hawks jumped out to a 10-1 lead in the first set, and controlled the play throughout the game for a 25-16 set win to take a 1-0 edge
  • Susquehanna also scored the first four points of the second game, but a 9-2 rally by the Greyhounds gave the Blue & Grey a 9-6 advantage. Moravian stretched it to 12-7 before the River Hawks used an 18-5 run to close the set with a 25-17 win for a 2-0 lead
  • The Hounds led the third set early at 4-1, and Moravian maintained a lead, pushing out to a 22-16 advantage. However, Susquehanna used a 9-1 run to earn a 25-23 set win to clinch the match 

Inside the Numbers

  • Junior outside hitter Jenna Deegan led the Blue & Grey with seven kills while freshman middle blocker Payton Reuber, freshman outside hitter Gabbie Reigner and junior right side hitter Makenzie Krasley all had three kills with Reigner adding nine digs, two blocks and a pair of service aces, Reuber contributing two blocks and Krasley registering two digs
  • Freshman outside hitter Kelly Tempalsky had two kills while senior middle blocker Autumn Marrero recorded three blocks
  • Sophomore setter Ally Plitnick had a team-high 14 assists to go with 10 digs while freshman libero Sam Love posted 14 digs and a pair of assists
  • Senior defensive specialist Allie Ludlow and senior defensive specialists Kat DeYesso both had four digs
