Moravian Hosts Student-Athlete Appreciation Event

2014 Student-Athlete Day

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- Moravian College hosted its annual National Student-Athlete Appreciation event in Johnston Hall Thursday evening in conjunction with the third annual NCAA Division III Week running from April 7-14.

The night included all of the fall and winter sports athletic and academic selections being honored with a running slide show on a big screen as well as standing to be recognized by Director of Athletics Scot Dapp and Faculty Athletics Representative Dr. Bob Brill. The highlight of the group were the 111 student-athletes that were honored by the National Consortium for Academics and Sports for achieving a 3.0 or higher GPA and completing community service during the academic year.

After the awards, eight student-athletes and eight members of the coaching staff participated in a relay race of bouncing a tennis ball on a racquet, throwing a football through a hula hoop and each team making six free throws. The coaching staff prevailed in the event.

There were drawings among the student-athletes for t-shirts and all of those attending were treated to ice cream and soft pretzels at the end of the evening.
