BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- Senior defender Alexa Brown of the Moravian University women's soccer squad has been named to the 2021 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-America Women's Soccer Third Team for NCAA Division III schools.

To be eligible for CoSIDA Academic All-America® honors, a student-athlete must maintain at least a 3.30 grade-point average, be a sophomore, junior or senior and be a starter or significant reserve. Brown was selected to the Academic All-District Team in November, and District IV in NCAA Division III is made up of schools from Pennsylvania.

Moravian has had 55 Greyhounds named CoSIDA Academic All-Americans® including Brown, and she is the fourth member of the women's soccer program to earn Academic All-America Honors. Brown joins Erin Gonda '06 (2nd Team defender in 2005), Diana Feldman '12 (2nd Team defender in 2011) and Lauren Bertucci '18 (2nd Team defender in 2017). Brown is the only student-athlete from the Landmark Conference on Academic All-America Teams.

"I'm very proud of Alexa for her latest achievement," stated Head Coach Jeff Ykoruk. "It showcases the hard work and dedication that she puts into being the best student-athlete she can be. She is a great example to our program and athletic department on how to successfully balance both academics and athletics. Congratulations to Alexa and her family for this prestigious honor."

Brown helped the Greyhounds post a 6-5-4 record this fall including a 3-3-1 mark in the Landmark Conference regular season as the squad earned the fourth seed in the 2021 Landmark Conference Tournament.

Brown was named to the Landmark All-Conference First Team this fall as she contributed a goal, which was a game-winning goal, and two assists, and Brown also helped Moravian post eight shutouts in 2021. During her career, Brown started 42 of 43 matches, and she netted three goals and added two assists with two of the three goals winning contests. Defensively, Brown helped the Greyhounds post 20 shutouts in her four seasons.

Off the pitch, Brown has maintained a 4.00 GPA as a health sciences major with a focus on pre-physical therapy. She has been named to Moravian's Dean's Honors List six times during her collegiate career, and Brown is also a member of the Chi Alpha Sigma National College Athlete Honor Society and the Phi Eta Sigma Honor Society for freshmen. She is a three-time selection to the Landmark Conference Fall Academic Honor Roll as well. Brown is a member of the Pre-Health Club and serves as a 26 Points Ambassador at Moravian, giving tours to prospective students.
