Schaffer, Krasley & Ott Earn Honors from LVAIAW

2012 LVAIAW Award Winners

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- Three Moravian College student-athletes, senior Abby Schaffer (Easton, Pa./Easton HS) and juniors Jesse Krasley (Allentown, Pa./Parkland HS) and Chelsea Ott (Whitehall, Pa./William Allen HS) were honored with awards at the 2012 Lehigh Valley Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women Annual Awards luncheon at Starters Riverport Tuesday.

The LVAIAW is made up of seven schools, Cedar Crest College, DeSales University, Lafayette College, Lehigh University, Kutztown University of Pennsylvania, Moravian and Muhlenberg College.  For more information on the LVAIAW, visit www.lvaiaw.org.

Schaffer was honored as the LVAIAW Outstanding Field Athlete in track & field for a second straight year and was also Moravian's LVAIAW Outstanding Athlete for the school.  During the indoor season, Schaffer was the runner-up at the NCAA Division III National Championship in the pole vault after winning the national title in 2011.  She also won the 2012 Landmark Conference Championship indoors as well as the outdoor title four a second straight year.  Schaffer tied for sixth the Women's College Pole Vault Championship at the Penn Relays last week, and set the NCAA Division III all-time record in the pole vault, clearing 4.22 meters (13 feet, ten inches) at the Greyhound Invitational on April 21.  Schaffer has the top height and will compete at the 2012 NCAA Division III National Championships to be held May 24 to 26 at Claremont-Mudd Scripps Colleges in California.

Krasley was named the LVAIAW Women's Volleyball Most Outstanding Athlete.  Krasley earned Landmark All-Conference Second Team, AVCA Mid-Atlantic All-Region and AVCA Honorable Mention All-America accolades as well this past fall.  Krasley has had a career season, now owning every dig record at Moravian. She finished this 2011 season with a team-high 803 digs and 47 service aces. She was also second in assists with 118. Krasley has a record 1,748 career digs.

Ott was the LVAIAW Women's Tennis Most Outstanding Athlete.  She has helped Moravian to a 5-8 record this season including the team's 18th straight postseason appearance.  Ott, who was the 2010 Landmark Conference Rookie of the Year as well as the 2011 & 2012 Player of the Year while being on the All-Conference First Team in singles and doubles each year, had a 17-3 record this season including a 13-1 mark at first singles.  In three seasons, Ott has a 50-6 career record in singles action for the Greyhounds, the eighth player in school history to reach 50 career wins, after tying the school record as a freshman with 20 singles victories.
