Moravian Honors Student-Athletes & NCAA Division III Week

Moravian Student-Athlete Day

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College Athletic Department honored its student-athletes Thursday as part of National Student-Athlete Day and NCAA Division III Week.

The day started with one member of each team having lunch with several faculty members to talk about being a student-athlete. Thursday evening, the Greyhounds brought the student-athletes into Johnston Hall for a presentation, raffles and Polish water ice.

Moravian College President Dr. Christopher M. Thomforde, a former member of the NCAA Management Council, spoke and was also honored by the Moravian Dawg Pack performers as the Moravian Fan of the Year.

Director of Athletics Scot Dapp honored members of the faculty and staff that have served as guest coaches this year to see what the student-athletes go through the lead up to a contest as well as what happens on gameday. Dapp then read off the names of all of Moravian's fall and winter academic and athletic award winners as well as championship teams.

Beverly Bradley was on hand to talk about Moravian's participation in Cops-n-Kids and brought the members of the men's and women's basketball and women's soccer team out to be recognized. Cops-n-Kids recently gave out its 530,000 free book.

Head Women's Basketball Coach, Associate Athletic Director and Senior Women's Administrator Mary Beth Spirk read a list of all of Moravian's community service projects from the year (see some of them highlighted here).

Moravian then handed out certificates from the NCAA to all student-athletes that had maintained a 3.0 grade-point average and participated in a community service project.
