Men's Tennis Closes Fall Season at USTA-ITA Regional

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. --- The Moravian College men's tennis team closed out its final competition of the fall portion of its 2012-13 schedule with the second day of the United States Tennis Association - Intercollegiate Tennis Association Southeast Regional hosted by the University of Mary Washington Sunday.

Freshman C.J. Widdifield won his consolation quarterfinal in the B6 Singles Draw to start the day, defeating Chandler Weston from Randolph-Macon College, 6-1, 1-6, 1-0 (10-8). Widdifield was knocked out of the tournament in the consolation semifinals with a 6-1, 6-1 loss to Billy Freitag of Elizabethtown College.

Junior Brian Welsko also played in a consolation quarterfinal Sunday in the B7 Singles Draw, falling to Brian Sommer from Randolph-Macon, 7-5, 6-3.

The duo of Widdifield and Welsko also played in the consolation semifinals of the B3 Doubles Draw, falling to Colby Beighey and Chris Collins from Grove City College, 8-3.

Moravian will not return to action until its annual Spring Break trip during the first full week of March 2013.
