Greyhound Men Post 20 Top 10 Finishes in Moravian Indoor Meet at Lehigh

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College men's indoor track & field team returned to action for the first time in six weeks and had 20 Top 10 finishes in the Moravian Indoor Invitational at Lehigh University's Rauch Field House Saturday.

Senior Greg Jaindl captured first in the mile run to lead the Greyhounds with a time of 4:21.52 while senior Justin Beasley-Turner finished third in the race in 4:25.68. Junior Peter Gingrich took seventh in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:03.43 while senior Gavin Kemery was ninth in the 5,000-meter run in 16:43.36 and sophomore Michael Lerch finished tenth in the 5K in 16:43.70. Sophomore Dominic DeRafelo placed fourth in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 9:08.96 while sophomore Shane Houghton was tenth at 9:17.37.

Junior Sean McFarland placed third in the 200-meter dash in a time of 23.37 seconds while sophomore Taylor Porter McPherson took fourth in the race in 23.52 seconds. Porter McPherson was also sixth in the 400-meter dash in 52.05 seconds while senior Nicholas Cephas placed ninth in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.21 seconds.

Moravian's 4x400-meter B relay squad of Beasley-Turner, DeRafelo, Gingrich and senior Alex Tursi finished fourth with a time of 3:35.84 while the A relay squad of McFarland, Porter McPherson, Clemson and senior Evan Lutz finished eighth in 3:41.03.

Senior Ryan Harper had the best finish in the field events as the runner-up in the weight throw with a PR toss of 15.44 meters (50-8), just missing making Moravian's top ten list for the event. Freshman Dan Jenkins was sixth in the weight throw with a distance of 13.31 meters (43-8) while junior Derek Scott placed ninth with a mark of 12.98 meters (42-7). Junior Shane Mastro took eighth in the shot put with a toss of 13.32 meters (43-8.5) on his first of six throws in the meet.

Sophomore Max Schuman was tied for sixth in the pole vault at a height of 3.95 meters (12-11.5) while freshman Sherwin Stewart was sixth in the triple jump with a distance of 12.60 meters (41-4.25) on his second attempt. Cephas took seventh in the long jump with a leap of 6.18 meters (20-3.5) on his third attempt.

The Hounds are scheduled to return to action on Saturday, January 25 when the squad travels to the Diplomat Open being hosted by Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster.
