Hounds Take 10th in Conference Challenge Cup at Nazareth (N.Y.)

ROCHESTER, N.Y. --- Half of the Moravian College men's track & field team competed at the Conference Challenge Cup hosted by Nazareth (N.Y.) College Saturday as the Greyhounds finished tenth of 12 teams with 22 points.

Leading the way was senior Greg Jaindl, who placed third in the 5,000-meter run with a PR time of 15:02.22, which is the fifth fastest time in school history, and it qualified Jaindl for the All-Atlantic Region Track & Field Championships in March while earning six points. The Greyhounds also scored seven points in the 200-meter dash with junior Sean McFarland placing fourth in an indoor PR of 23.19 seconds and sophomore Taylor Porter McPherson finishing seventh with a time of 23.42 seconds.

Moravian also picked up nine points in the field events with junior Shane Mastro scoring six points for a third place in the shot put with a toss of 13.78 meters (45-2.5) on his second attempt. Senior Ryan Harper earned three points for a sixth place in the weight throw with a PR of 15.82 meters (51-11), the third best distance in school history, on is second throw.

The Greyhounds had two other top 10 finishes with Porter McPherson taking ninth in the 400-meter finals in 52.15 seconds and junior Peter Gingrich finishing ninth in the 800-meter run in 1:58.54.

Moravian will bring its full team back together on Saturday, February 1 when the squad head to the Bomber Invitational at Ithaca (N.Y.) College.
