Moravian Men Take Second at 2021 Landmark Conference Outdoor Championships

SELINSGROVE, Pa. --- The Moravian College men's outdoor track & field team placed second to host Susquehanna University in the 2021 Landmark Conference Outdoor Championships on Saturday as the Greyhounds scored 191 points while the River Hawks had 223.5 points.

Event Winners

  • Senior Sean McFarland captured first in the 200-meter dash in a time of 22.12 seconds
  • Graduate student Greg Jaindl finished first in the 1,500-meter run in 3:59.71, and he also won the 5,000-meter run in a time of 15:35.19 and the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 9:49.03
  • Senior Shane Mastro captured first in the shot put with a distance of 14.79 meters (48-6.25)
  • Sophomore Dan Jenkins won the hammer throw with a toss of 46.67 meters (153-1) 

Top 8 Scoring Finishes

  • Freshman Marco Calantoni was sixth in the 100-meter dash in 11.49 seconds
  • Freshman Matt Shea finished eighth in the 200-meter dash in 23.36 seconds
  • McFarland was the runner-up in the 400-meter dash in 49.77 seconds
  • Senior Peter Gingrich took second in the 800-meter run in 1:56.89
  • Sophomore Darlyn Fermin was eighth in the 1,500-meter run in 4:12.70
  • Junior Michael Lerch finished eighth in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 16:37.16
  • Sophomore Liam Duffy was the runner-up in the 10,000-meter run in 34:09.80 while junior Dominic DeRafelo took fourth in 34:37.14
  • Sophomore Ethan Cherubin finished fourth in the 110-meter high hurdles in 16.32 seconds, and he was third in the 400-meter hurdles in 57.75 seconds
  • Lerch was the runner-up in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in a time of 10:02.61 while junior Shane Houghton took third in 10:02.66 and junior Richard Glennon placed eighth in 10:51.08
  • Moravian's 4x100-meter relay squad of McFarland, Shea, Calantoni and freshman Jared Santos was the runner-up in a time of 43.94 seconds
  • The Greyhounds' 4x400-meter relay team of Gingrich, Cherubin, Fermin and junior Brad Clemson was third in 3:36.70
  • Graduate student Scott Goodwin finished third in the pole vault at a height of 4.25 meters (13-11.25) while junior Max Schuman was fourth at 4.10 meters (13-5.25)
  • Schuman also took eighth in the long jump at 6.05 meters (19-10.25)
  • Sophomore Kyle Smilon was fifth in the triple jump with a distance of 12.37 meters (40-7), and Schuman placed eighth at 11.72 meters (38-5.5)
  • Junior Tim King was third in the shot put at 12.15 meters (39-10.5) while senior Derek Scott placed fifth at 12.02 meters (39-5.25)
  • Mastro took third in the discus with a mark of 40.70 meters (133-6) while Jenkins finished fifth at 39.34 meters (129-1), Scott was sixth at a distance of 38.94 meters (127-9) and freshman Derek Mason took eighth at 35.76 meters (117-4)
  • Mastro was the runner-up in the hammer throw with a distance of 45.03 meters (147-9) while Scott took fourth at 41.75 meters (136-11)
  • Sophomore Eric Keck was seventh in the javelin with a toss of 44.24 meters (145-1)
