Softball Jumps to 2nd in NCAA East Regional Rankings

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. --- The Moravian College softball team jumped from sixth to second in the East Region in the second NCAA Division III Regional Rankings of the 2012 season released Thursday. 

The Greyhounds are 27-9 overall and now 23-7 in-region, one of the main criteria's for the ranking.  Montclair State University is ranked first in the region and is followed by the Greyhounds, Rowan University, The College of New Jersey, Messiah College, William Paterson University, Ramapo College of New Jersey and Kean University rounds out the top eight in the regional poll.  The complete rankings can be seen at http://www.ncaa.com/rankings/softball/d3/regional_rankings.

Moravian swept doubleheader versus Kean and Ramapo and lost a game to The College of New Jersey.  Moravian has defeated Emerson (Mass.) College, ranked sixth in the Northeast Region and lost to Ohio Northern University, which is second in the Central Region.

Moravian returns to the field on Saturday, April 28 in a Landmark Conference doubleheader versus The University of Catholic beginning at 1:00 p.m. at Blue & Grey Field  The Greyhounds, who have clinched an 18th straight postseason appearance, need to sweep the doubleheader and have Susquehanna University lose one game to clinch the top seed in the conference tournament and host the 2012 Landmark Conference Tournament on Friday and Saturday, May 4 and 5.
