Ten Greyhounds Score as Moravian Tops Goucher in Regular Season Finale to Head to the Postseason with Eight Straight Wins

TOWSON, Md. --- The Moravian University women's lacrosse team won its eighth straight match, defeating host Goucher College, 18-1, in Landmark Conference action Saturday to close out the 2023 regular season as ten different Greyhounds scored a goal in the victory.

How It Happened

  • The Hounds scored nine goals in the opening quarter with graduate student attack Brittany Bill beginning the barrage with a goal at the 12:27 mark. Sophomore attack Jackie Salvatore netted a pair of goals including one just 16 seconds after Bill before graduate student attack Eliza Fantazzi found the net. Bill scored twice more around a goal from sophomore midfielder Madi Dippel while senior midfielder Megan Donnelly tallied twice to end the quarter with a 9-0 advantage
  • Sophomore midfielder Alex Cherenson scored to start the second quarter for Moravian, and junior defender Keara Reilly and freshman midfielder Victoria Salica had goals to give the Blue & Grey a 12-0 lead at halftime
  • Senior attack Devin King found the net to start the second half before Donnelly scored again for the 100th goal of her career, the ninth Greyhound in program history to reach 100 career goals. King added another marker and senior midfielder Emily Hoskin scored to put the Hounds up 16-0 after 45 minutes of action
  • Hoskin and Bill each put a goal in the net in the final period while the Gophers scored the final goal of the match

Inside the Numbers

  • Moravian had 10 different players score a point with Bill netting four goals to go with an assist and a pair of draw controls. Donnelly contributed three goals, two assists, six draw controls and a pair of ground balls while Salvatore finished with two goals, three assists and two caused turnovers
  • King recorded two goals and an assist while Hoskin had two goals and Fantazzi posted a goal and an assist
  • Cherenson, Dippel, Reilly and Salica all found the net once with Dippel contributing four draw controls, four caused turnovers and a pair of ground balls, Cherenson scooping up three ground balls and Reilly adding four ground balls and two caused turnovers
  • Senior goalie Rylee Soltis made two saves while playing the first half of the match while senior Brelyn Friedman added one save in the second half
  • Freshman midfielder Gianna Lotito contributed three ground balls while sophomore midfielder Isabella Ziccardi added two ground balls
  • The Blue & Grey finished the contest with a 32-6 advantage in shots, a 13-9 edge in draw controls, a 24-10 lead in ground balls and a 12-for-13 performance on clearing attempts
