Moravian Honors 2020 Women's Volleyball Seniors

Moravian women's volleyball seniors Alexis Szaro and Victoria Kauffman.

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- With the final semester of their college experience moved remotely by COVID-19, the Moravian College Department of Athletics & Recreation today honors the two senior members of the Greyhounds' women's volleyball squad that missed out on their traditional career-ending senior experiences.

The duo helped the Greyhounds to 62 victories over the last four years, one berth in the Landmark Conference Semifinals and a trip to the ECAC Division III Quarterfinals in 2016.

Setter Victoria Kauffman saw action in 422 sets over 124 career matches, and Victoria had 162 kills, 798 digs, 164 service aces, which ranks sixth in program history, 3,794 assists, which is third in school history, and 83 blocks in her career. She is a three-time member of the Landmark Conference Fall Academic Honor Roll. Victoria is a member of Chi Alpha Sigma National College Athlete Honor Society, and she made Moravian's Dean's List four times. Victoria is the daughter of Rosanne and Tom Kauffman, and she is majoring in psychology with a minor in management.

"Vic was a four-year starter in the setter position and has served as a great role model for the team," commented Head Coach Shelley Bauder. "She has been a steady presence on the court and has etched her name in the record books in many categories. She was a very good student and also served as captain her senior year and was the team MVP."

Defensive specialist Alexis Szaro played in 430 sets over 129 matches in her career with 10 kills, 903 digs, 90 service aces and 63 assists. Alexis was a three-time member of the Landmark Conference Fall Academic Honor Roll and she was named to the 2019 Landmark Conference Fall All-Sportsmanship Team. Alexis was selected as the 2019 Landmark Conference Women's Volleyball Senior Scholar-Athlete. She is a member of Chi Alpha Sigma National College Athlete Honor Society while making the Dean's List in each of her seven semesters. Alexis is the daughter of Bela and Peter Szaro, and she is majoring in sociology with a minor in education.

"Lexie is such a diligent student and always wants to strive for her best not only in the classroom but on the court as well," stated Bauder. "She was a defensive stalwart for us all four years, and her outstanding leadership qualities were very evident the last two years she was a captain. It was a pleasure to coach a student athlete such as Lexie who has high standards for herself, was so driven to succeed yet always had time to help her teammates with whatever they needed."

Graphics on both seniors will be posted throughout the day on Moravian's social media accounts.
