DAVENPORT, Fla. --- The Moravian University baseball team dropped a 4-2 non-conference decision to Milwaukee School of Engineering in the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational at Northeast Regional Park in Davenport, Florida Tuesday afternoon.
How It Happened
- The Raiders scored the first two runs of the game in the bottom of the second inning, and MSOE added a run in the bottom of the third frame for a 3-0 edge
- The Greyhounds pulled within a run at 3-2 after scoring twice in the top of the fifth inning. Sophomore left fielder Nick Henry led off the frame with a double, moving to third on the throw, and he scored on an RBI single from junior third baseman Paul Croyle. Junior center fielder Patrick Benolken hit a single to put Croyle in scoring position, and after a groundout by junior catcher Connor Wengryn moved the runners up 90 feet, Croyle raced home on a wild pitch
- MSOE would finish the scoring with a run in the bottom of the seventh frame
Inside the Numbers
- Moravian had six hits with Benolken going 2-for-4. Henry, Wengryn, Croyle and senior shortstop Mason Fisher all collected one hit with Henry and Croyle scoring runs and Croyle adding an RBI
- Junior David Ciaccio started on the mound and had a pair of strikeouts in four innings of action while freshman Stefano Garofalo tossed three innings and registered one strikeout and sophomore Chris Medei struck out the side in the eighth inning
