Moravian Falls to No. 2 Salisbury in Series Opener

SALISBURY, Md. --- The Moravian University baseball team fell to No. 2 Salisbury (Md.) University, 14-0, in the opening contest of a three-game non-conference series Saturday.

How It Happened

  • The Sea Gulls jumped out to a 2-0 lead with a pair of runs in the bottom of the first inning, and Salisbury added another run in the second frame for a 3-0 edge
  • Salisbury tallied single runs in the fourth and sixth innings for a 5-0 advantage
  • The Sea Gulls scored nine runs in the eighth inning to finish the scoring

Inside the Numbers

  • Moravian had seven hits with senior second baseman Chris Pow going 4-for-4
  • Senior designated hitter Derek Holmes, senior first baseman Cole Cherkas and junior center fielder Patrick Benolken each had one hit in the contest
  • Senior Noah Ingalls made the start on the mound and recorded a pair of strikeouts in four innings of action. Sophomore Matt Snyder posted one strikeout in three innings of work while senior Garrison Koch saw action in the eighth inning. Junior Aaron Flyte registered a pair of strikeouts in an inning on the mound
