Bailey, Duncan & Glass to Compete at 2016 NCAA DIII Outdoor Track & Field National Championships

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. --- Moravian College has had three student-athletes – seniors Gavin Bailey and Corinne Glass and sophomore Mary Kate Duncan – selected as part of the field for the 2016 NCAA Division III Men's & Women's Outdoor Track & Field National Championships that will be hosted by Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa from May 26-28.

Bailey and Duncan will be making their second straight trips to the NCAA Outdoor Championships after competing a year ago while this year marks the first time that Glass has reached the championship meet.

Glass will be the first of the trio to compete with the preliminaries of the 200-meter dash scheduled for Thursday, May 26 at 2:45 p.m. Central Daylight Time. Glass enters the championship with the 16th fastest time of 24.78, which is both a Moravian College and Landmark Conference record. The top eight qualifiers in the preliminary races will run in the finals on Saturday, May 28 at 3:50 p.m. CDT. Glass was selected as Moravian's Outstanding Senior Female Athlete this season, and she has earned 18 Landmark Conference titles, 10 individual and eight relays, and a total of 25 All-Conference honors during her career. Glass is a two-time Landmark Conference Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year, winning the award in both 2015 and 2016, and she also was honored at the Landmark Conference Indoor Track Athlete of the Year this past February.

Bailey is also scheduled to compete on Thursday, May 26 with the men's long jump slated to begin at 3:30 p.m. CDT. Bailey is ranked 19th among the qualifiers with a season-best mark of 7.13 meters (23-4.75) that he posted this past Thursday to finish as the runner-up at the 2016 ECAC Division III Outdoor Championships. Bailey finished 16th in the long jump at the 2015 NCAA DIII Championships with a mark of 6.90 meters (22-7.75) on the final jump of the preliminary flight. In his career, Bailey is a four-time Landmark Conference champion in the long jump, twice indoors and twice outdoors over the last two years, and he has runner-up finishes in the 100-meter dash outdoors and 4x400-meter relay indoors in 2015.

Duncan is slated to compete on Saturday, May 28 at 11:30 a.m. CDT in the javelin after qualifying with the sixth-best distance of 44.93 meters (147-4). Last spring, Duncan was 22nd at the NCAA Championships with a toss of 35.87 meters (117-8) on her third throw. She won the 2016 ECAC Championship last Wednesday with a toss of 44.28 meters (145-3), and Duncan was the runner-up at the Landmark Conference Championship earlier this month.
