Rival Muhlenberg Defeats Moravian, 3-2

The Moravian College baseball team finally played a game in the state of Pennsylvania after ten games out of the state to open the season, but the Greyhounds couldn't rally from a 3-0 deficit, falling to rival Muhlenberg College, 3-2, at Cedarcreek Field Tuesday.

The Greyhounds left runners at second and third in the first inning and on third base in the second.

The Mules would take a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second. Designated hitter Max Litvak singled with an out and moved to second on a wild pitch. After another out, shortstop John Scuderi hit an RBI single to score Litvak, and Scuderi eventually scored on a wild pitch.
Muhlenberg would add another run in the bottom of the seventh on an RBI sacrifice fly from Scuderi.

Moravian scored both of its runs in the top of the eighth inning. Senior outfielder Mike Zubia led off with an infield single and scored on a one-out RBI double from junior catcher Austin Rock, pictured at right. After the second out of the inning, junior shortstop Dave Zubia hit an RBI single to score Rock.

The Greyhounds had a 9-7 edge in hits in the game with Mike Zubia going three-for-five. Dave Zubia and senior third baseman Jon Baltz were both two-for-four. Outfielder Jesse Nusbaum was two-for-four to lead Muhlenberg.

Freshman Jonathan Harasin made his first start of the season on the mound for Moravian, allowing three runs on seven hits to go with four strikeouts. Freshman Robert Solano tossed the final inning for the Greyhounds. Muhlenberg used six pitchers in the game with Chris Harper earning the win with 1 2/3 innings of relief action and Rob Shannon earning a save.
