The Moravian College baseball team had its five-game winning streak snapped in a 12-1 non-conference loss at Elizabethtown College Wednesday afternoon.

The Blue Jays jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning on an infield RBI single from first baseman Brian Verdelli and a two-RBI single by third baseman Ian Smith.

Elizabethtown added two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning on a two-RBI double off the bat of catcher Dillon Tagle, and the Blue Jays pushed their lead to 11-0 with a six-run sixth inning.

Moravian scored its only run of the contest in the top of the eighth inning. Freshman outfielder Joseph Connell hit a two-out double and scored on an RBI single from junior shortstop Dave Zubia.

Elizabethtown would add one more run in the bottom half of the eighth. The Blue Jays finished the game with an 11-8 edge in hits with Smith going three-for-five with three RBIs. Outfielder Pat Mulligan was two-for-three for Elizabethtown while Tagle had three RBIs and second baseman Andrew Gordon scored three times. Senior outfielder Mike Zubia, pictured, was three-for-three for the Greyhounds.

Moravian freshman Robert Solano suffered his first loss of the season, allowing three runs on four hits and a walk to go with a pair of strikeouts. Sophomore Frank Trautz tossed two innings and gave up two runs on a hit and two walks while striking out four batters while freshman Jason Jamula pitched 2/3 of an inning and allowed six runs, three earned, on three hits and three walks with one strikeout. Freshman Evan Bray tossed the final 2 1/3 innings for Moravian with one run on three hits to go with one strikeout.

Vaclav Hasik tossed eight innings to get the win for the Blue Jays as he allowed a run on six hits and a walk while striking out four batters. Todd Leister pitched the final inning for Elizabethtown and gave up two hits.
