Home Matches Dominate Start of 2013 Field Hockey Season

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College field hockey team will play four of its first five matches of the 2013 season at home including the season opener with DeSales University on Saturday, August 31st beginning at 1:00 p.m. on the turf at Rocco Calvo Field.

The Greyhounds, led by 11th-year Head Coach Amy Endler, were 7-1 at home last season and will split their nine home contests between the Rocco Calvo Field turf and the natural grass surface at Betty Prince Field. After the opener with DeSales, Moravian will get back to action on Friday, September 6th with another home match as Arcadia University comes to Betty Prince Field for a 4:00 p.m. match. The Greyhounds will make their first road trip of the season less than 24 hours later as they head to Immaculata University for a 1:00 p.m. match on September 7th.

Moravian has a total of nine non-conference matches to start the season including hosting Cedar Crest College at Betty Prince Field on September 11th at 4:00 p.m., William Paterson University at Rocco Calvo Field on Saturday, September 14th at 1:00 p.m., Roanoke (Va.) College at Rocco Calvo Field on Sunday, September 22nd at 2:00 p.m. and rival Muhlenberg College in a Matte Award match on Wednesday, September 25th at 4:00 p.m. at Betty Prince Field.

The Greyhounds begin their 2013 Landmark Conference schedule on Saturday, September 28th when the squad hosts Susquehanna University at 1:00 p.m. at Rocco Calvo Field. After a road trip to Neumann University to begin the month of October, Moravian will they host Landmark Conference rival The Catholic University of America on Homecoming at Betty Prince Field on Saturday. October 5th at 1:00 p.m. The Greyhounds close out their home season on Wednesday, October 9th in a Landmark Conference match with the University of Scranton starting at 4:00 p.m. at Rocco Calvo Field.

Moravian will play its final four matches of the year on the road with Landmark Conference contests at Drew University on Saturday, October 12th, at Juniata College on Saturday, October 19th and at Goucher College on Saturday, November 2nd all starting at 1:00 p.m.

The 2013 Landmark Conference Tournament is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, November 6th with the top two seeds hosting the semifinals of the four-team tournament. The championship match will be played on Saturday, November 9th.
