DALLAS, Pa. --- The Moravian University field hockey squad netted three second half goals including a pair in the fourth quarter to earn a 4-2 non-conference win at Misericordia University giving Head Coach Sarah Dalrymple her first career victory.
How It Happened
- The Greyhounds jumped out to a 1-0 lead when senior forward Ava Edwards scored with just 29 seconds left in the first quarter off of pass from junior midfielder Emily Wells
- The Cougars tied the contest with just 45 seconds into the second quarter as the squads were knotted at 1-1 through 30 minutes of action
- Misericordia moved ahead, 2-1, on a penalty stroke goal in the 35th minute before Edwards scored off of a pass from junior midfielder Mackenzie Jakobsen with just 34 seconds left in the period to tie the contest again
- Wells netted her first goal of the season with an unassisted goal just 1:16 into the final quarter, and Edwards added an insurance goal in the 49th minute with her third marker off of a feed from Wells
Inside the Numbers
- Edwards' hat trick was the first of her career, and it is the second time in her Moravian career that Edwards has scored at least twice in a contest
- Wells had her first career two-assist match to go with her goal while Jakobsen recorded her second career assist
- Junior goalie Brooke Wilkinson earned her first collegiate victory in the cage while senior defender Emily Brandt added her second career defensive save and first of the fall
- Dalrymple earned her first NCAA countable victory a little over 18 months after becoming the Greyhounds' mentor with her initial season cancelled due to the pandemic
