Moravian Scores in Final Two Minutes to Cap Come-From-Behind Win at King's

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. --- The Moravian University field hockey team fell behind host King's College in the first quarter but would rally including scoring the winning goal with just 1:25 to play for a 2-1 non-conference win Tuesday evening.

How It Happened

  • The Monarchs took a 1-0 lead in the 12th minute of action in the first quarter
  • Moravian responded just 3:38 into the second quarter when freshman forward Sydney Anderson knocked in a rebound from junior midfielder Emily Wells to knot the score
  • The game would remain tied until the 59th minute when Anderson netted her second game winning goal of the season off of a pass from Wells after an initial save 

Inside the Numbers

  • Moravian had an 18-5 advantage in shots and a 9-2 edge in penalty corners in the victory
  • Junior goalie Brooke Wilkinson recorded two saves in the win
  • Anderson now has seven goals on the season while Wells now has 10 assists, just one shy of tying the single season school record of 11 set by Stacee Cupples in 2004
  • The Hounds earned their sixth win of the season, the most for the program since an eight-win year in 2014
