Greyhounds Post Shutout Win at Cedar Crest

ALLENTOWN, Pa. --- The Moravian University field hockey team posted its second shutout of the season with a 4-0 non-conference win at Cedar Crest College Wednesday evening. 

How It Happened

  • Moravian took a 1-0 lead in the ninth minute of the first quarter when freshman forward Sydney Anderson knocked in a pass from sophomore midfielder Sarah Bietka, and the Hounds still had the 1-0 lead after the first quarter
  • Greyhound senior forward Ava Edwards doubled the lead to 2-0 two minutes into the second quarter when she scored off of a pass from junior midfielder Maddie Call
  • The Blue and Grey pushed the edge to 3-0 with just over three minutes left in the second quarter as Bietka scored from Call on a penalty corner
  • The squads played a scoreless third quarter
  • Moravian finished off the scoring with just over five minutes remaining when Call netted a goal on a penalty stroke 

Inside the Numbers

  • Moravian junior goalie Brooke Wilkinson recorded one save in her second career shutout
  • Edwards scored her team-leading 11th goal of the year and moved into a tie for sixth in school history for goals in a season
  • Anderson's marker was her fifth of the season while Call picked up her fourth goal of 2021 and Bietka found the back of the cage for the second time this year
  • The Blue and Grey had an 11-5 advantage in shots in the contest while both squads had five penalty corners
