TOWSON, Md. --- The Moravian University field hockey scored four goals in the first 9:11 of action and went on to post a 6-0 victory at Goucher College in Landmark Conference action Saturday for the program's best start in 17 years.
How It Happened
- The Greyhounds jumped out to a 1-0 lead just 1:07 into action when freshman forward Sydney Anderson netted a goal off of a pass from senior forward Ava Edwards
- Edwards made it a 2-0 contest in the third minute when she knocked in a pass from junior midfielder Emily Wells
- Sophomore midfielder Bekkah Kehoe stretched the lead to 3-0 in the seventh minute when she found the cage off of a feed from sophomore forward Hanna Leto
- Freshman midfielder Alaina Schmid capped the early scoring spree in the tenth minute as she knocked in a pass from Anderson. Moravian held the 4-0 lead until halftime
- Leto would get into the goal scorer's column in the 36th minute off of a pass from Edwards
- Anderson finished off the scoring in the 50th minute with an unassisted tally
Inside the Numbers
- Moravian is 7-2 for the first time since the 2004 season
- Junior goalie Brooke Wilkinson made one save
- Anderson's two goals give her nine for the season while Edwards scored her team-leading 12th goal of the season. Edwards' two assists give her six for the year and her 30 points in 2021 are tied for the fourth most in a single season in school history
- Leto, Kehoe and Schmid all found the cage for the first time in their careers
- Wells now has a team-high 11 assists this fall, tying Moravian's single season record set by Stacee Cupples in 2004
