Four Hounds Score in 10-0 Win over Neumann

ASTON, Pa. --- The Moravian University field hockey squad shutout Neumann University to defeat the Knights 10-0 in non-conference action on Saturday afternoon.

How It Happened

  • The Greyhounds got on the board first, in the fifth minute of the first quarter, with a goal from senior Ava Edwards that was assisted by junior Emily Wells.
  • Moravian would add two more goals in the second quarter, the first coming from freshman Sydney Anderson in the 19th minute and junior Maddie Call added the third goal of the game in the 24th minute. Both goals were assisted by Edwards. The Greyhounds would head into halftime leading Neumann, 3-0.
  • Continuing to pad their lead, Moravian would tack on three more in the third quarter. Anderson would score first on an unassisted goal in the 38th minute, which was her second of the game. Call would score her second of the game in the 41st minute, followed by the second goal for Edwards in the 42nd minute. Wells would contribute assists to both goals, for her third of the game. Moravian would head into the final quarter with a 6-0 lead.
  • The Blue and Grey added four more goals in the fourth quarter, with Edwards finding the back of the cage three times and Wells got into the scorer's column with a goal in the 59th minute, along with an assist on Edwards first goal of the quarter. Anderson was credited with an assist on the tenth goal of the game, as the Greyhounds routed Neumann, 10-0.

Inside the Numbers

  • Edwards finished with five goals and two assists to set a pair of school records for goals in a game and points in a game, with 12 points.
  • Wells also set a school record with her four assists, to go with a goal for six points.
  • Call had two goals on the day, as Anderson scored twice and added an assist.
  • Junior Brooke Wilkinson saw only one shot but did not require a save in the 60 minutes of action. Wilkinson earned the victory, putting her at 3-1 on the year.
