Moravian Opens 2021 Landmark Conference Slate with Win Over Elizabethtown

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College women's tennis team began its 2021 Landmark Conference season with a 7-2 win over visiting Elizabethtown College Friday in a match played indoors in Timothy Breidegam Fieldhouse due to the cold temperatures and wind. 

How It Happened

  • The Greyhounds opened the match with a pair of victories in doubles to take a 2-1 lead. Seniors Brooke Adams and senior Kristen Cassidy posted an 8-1 win at second doubles to start the scoring while the tandem of sophomores Julianne Cassady and Cristina Merone had an 8-2 victory at third doubles
  • Moravian won five of the six singles matches with Cassidy posting a 6-0, 6-0 at fifth singles for the match clinching point
  • Figiel played the only match to go beyond two sets, capturing her sixth singles contest 61-, 4-6, 1-0 (10-7)
