Hounds Rally Before Falling at Goucher

TOWSON, Md. --- The Moravian University women's tennis squad nearly rallied before falling to host Goucher College, 5-4, in Landmark Conference action Sunday.

How It Happened

  • The Gophers led 2-1 after doubles action with the Greyhounds picking up an 8-5 win at third doubles from seniors Gabby Martin and Emily Masters. The Blue & Grey nearly earned a victory at second doubles with freshmen Sydney Shifman and Leah Zolotareva falling in a tiebreaker
  • Goucher scored wins at the first two singles matches to finish to pull ahead 4-1. Zolotareva finished off a three-set win at first singles and Shifman won in straight sets at third singles to pull Moravian within a point. Sophomore Izzy Szmodis rallied for a three-set triumph at second singles to tie the contest at 4-4. However, the Gophers won the match with a three-set victory at sixth singles
