Three Greyhounds Earn All-Centennial Conference Football Honors

LANCASTER, PA --- The Moravian College football team has had three players named to the 2011 All-Centennial Conference Football Teams announced Tuesday with senior defensive lineman Allen Petros (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty HS) earning First Team honors four a second straight season.

The Greyhounds had two All-Centennial Conference Second Team honorees with senior defensive back David Wacker (Parkton, MD/Hereford HS) and senior linebacker Evan Bauer (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty HS) making the squad.

Moravian completed its 2011 season with a 2-8 overall record and a 2-7 mark in Centennial Conference action.

Petros, who was on the All-Centennial Conference Honorable Mention squad in 2009 before making the First Team last year, led the Moravian defensive with 62 tackles this fall including 22 tackles for loss, nine of the team's 23 sacks and two forced fumbles. In his career, Petros, a starter at defensive end, set the school record with 63 and a half tackles for loss to go with 191 tackles, 28 sacks, which is second in school history, five passes defended, four forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries. Petros was also named to the 2009 and 2010 Centennial Conference Fall Academic Honor Roll , and he is a finalist for Capital One Academic All-America honors for a second consecutive year.

Wacker, who was on the All Centennial Conference Honorable Mention squad last season, finished his third year as Moravian's starting free safety. This fall, Wacker tied Petros for the team lead with 62 tackles with one for loss, four passes defended, two forced recoveries and a blocked kick. Wacker played in 41 of a possible 42 career games with 195 tackles including 110 solo stops, six tackles for loss, two sacks, ten passes defended with two interceptions, two forced fumbles, four fumble recoveries and four blocked kicks.

Bauer had 28 tackles this season in nine games including five and a half tackles for loss, two sacks, a pass break-up, a forced fumbles and a fumble recovery. In three seasons at Moravian, Bauer has144 tackles in 30 games to go with 15 tackles for loss, six and a half sacks, nine passes defended including three interceptions, three forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries. Bauer also saw time on the offensive side of the ball in his career with two receptions for 21 yards and a touchdown.
