LANCASTER, Pa. --- Freshman linebacker Brendan Downey (Hawley, Pa./Wallenpaupack HS) of the Moravian College football team has been named the Centennial Conference Defensive Player of the Week for his performance in the Greyhounds' 21-13 victory over Dickinson College Saturday while senior running back Joe Tegan (Haddonfield, N.J./Haddon Township HS) and senior punter/kicker Tyler Thompson (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin HS) were named to the Weekly Honor Roll.

Downey led the Moravian defense with a game high 13 tackles in the win over Dickinson. He added a half a tackle for loss, and he added his first career interception on the second play of the game. The interception was one of three takeaways for the Greyhounds, who now have 11 takeaways in four games this season.

Tegan posted his second 100-yard game of the season with 115 yards and a touchdown on 18 carries Saturday. Tegan scored on a 54-yard run on a third-and-one play early in the third quarter to break a 7-7 tie. The run was his second touchdown of 50 or more yards this season to go with a 76-yard score versus McDaniel College.

Thompson averaged 42.7 yards on six punt attempts with a season long of 54 yards that he punted with his right foot, and Thompson had another punt of 43 yards downed at the five-yard line that he punted with his left foot. Thompson, who sometime punts Rugby style, also had a fake punt he ran seven yards for a first down, and he made three extra-points in the victory.
