Centennial Conference Fall Academic Honor Roll

LANCASTER, Pa. --- Six student-athletes of the Moravian College football team have been named to the 2018 Centennial Conference Fall Academic Honor Roll that includes 108 football players and a total of 639 student-athletes from the conference.

To be named to the Centennial Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must be a sophomore or higher in class standing and have a cumulative GPA of 3.40 or higher.

The Greyhounds had three seniors on the Academic Honor Roll –defensive lineman Vincent Pianoforte, linebacker Tanner Stokes and linebacker/defensive back Nick Zambelli, and junior wide receiver Andrew Lelie and sophomores kicker Brendan Morgans and offensive lineman PJ Weierbach also garnered spots on the Academic Honor Roll for the Greyhounds.

"The recognition received by this group for making the Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll is well deserved," commented Head Coach Jeff Pukszyn. "These six men have done an outstanding job balancing their academic schedules, along with putting in a good deal of time and dedication to the football program. I am very proud of their accomplishments as student-athletes and for the three seniors – Vince, Tanner and Nick – we wish them all the success in their future endeavors and thank them for their dedication to the football program for the last four years."

Pianoforte had 17 tackles with one tackle for loss and a half a sack this season in six contests after missing four games early with an injury while Stokes made 22 tackles this fall with one tackle for loss and a pair of pass break-ups. Zambelli  moved to a hybrid position of linebacker and nickel defensive back this year and had 54 tackles with one and a half for loss, an interception he returned 17 yards, two passes defended and a forced fumble in his fourth year as a starter and second as a team captain.

Lelie caught five passes for 54 yards this fall while Morgans kicked off once for a touchback versus Juniata College. Weierbach started all 10 games at right guard for the second straight season and helped the Moravian offense average 316.9 yards per game including 130.8 on the ground.

The Greyhounds finished 5-5 overall and were tied for sixth in the Centennial Conference with a 4-5 mark.
