Smith's 69 Leads Hounds to 4th at Franklin & Marshall Invitational

LANCASTER, Pa. --- The Moravian College golf team placed fourth of 17 teams at the Franklin & Marshall College Fall Invitational played at the Bent Creek Country Club with junior Tyler Smith shooting a career-low round of 69.

The Greyhounds had a team score of 298, one of six teams to shoot under 300 with Rutgers-Camden winning the tournament with a 283.

Smith finished third of the 84 golfers in the tournament with a two-under par 69 in a round that included four birdies and 12 pars. Smith's 69 is the fifth sub-70 round for the Greyhounds in the last 15 years with Evan Dickinson shooting a 69 in 2013 and Brian Bergstol turning in a pair of 68s in 2006 and 2007 and a 69 in 2006.

Junior Kevin Kunkle and senior Dan Leppert both finished in a tie for 24th with four-over par rounds of 75. Junior Matt Miksiewicz and sophomore Joe Rochelle were tied for 45th with rounds with 79 while sophomore Kody Long was tied for 55th with an 80.

Moravian is scheduled to return to action on Saturday and Sunday, October 22-23 at the Wesley College Geyer Memorial Tournament at the Wild Quail Golf Club in Wyoming, Del.
