Hounds Compete in Opening Day of ITA Southeast Tournament

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. --- The Moravian College women's tennis team competed in the opening day of the 2015 Intercollegiate Tennis Association Southeast Tournament hosted by the University of Mary Washington Saturday in a day that the rain won more than the matches that were played.

The Greyhounds have six individuals and three doubles teams at the tournament, and the doubles squads never made it to the court on Saturday due to the weather. All are slated to begin competition on Sunday.

In singles action, senior Courtnie Lambert won her opening round match in the Blue 3 Singles flight with a 6-3, 4-6, 1-0 (10-4) victory over Whitney Cash of Bridgewater College. Lambert fell to Berringer Flood from host Mary Washington in the quarterfinals of the flight last Saturday by a final of 6-2, 6-2. Each of Moravian's other five singles competitors dropped their opening round match and will compete in the consolation brackets of their flights on Sunday.

Action on day two of the 2015 ITA Southeast Tournament is slated to get underway on Sunday, September 27 at 8:00 a.m.
