Women's Cross Country Places 5th at DeSales Invitational

The Moravian College women's cross country team placed sixth of 41 teams at the DeSales University Invitational Saturday. The Greyhounds had a team score of 244 while Dickinson College was first at 70 points and Kutztown University of Pennsylvania was second with 98 points. Moravian was the top Landmark Conference team out of the five competing conference teams. The meet was run in two sections, red and blue, with the Greyhounds finishing third in the blue section.

Individually for the women, senior Cadee Rockwell, pictured, placed fourth of 424 runners with a time of 23:37.81 on the 6,000-meter course, and she won the blue section of the race. Senior Kristina Ruggiero was 24th overall in a time of 24:46.14 while freshman Claire Del Casale was 50th in 25:27.01. Freshman Emily Lambright was 86th in a time of 26:05.34 while freshman Jessica Goldberg rounded out the Moravian top five runners with a 97th place finsh in 26:15.84.

Freshman Devon Bedell took 124th in 26:48.08 while sophomore Jennifer Smilgis was one spot back with a time of 26:49.07. Senior Megan Hallowell finished 136th in 27:00.60 while sophomore Jennifer Parodi took 174th in 27:37.51. Rounding out the Greyhounds' runners were junior Emma Pacheco in 254th with a time of 29:00.23, freshman Alyssa Tallon at 283rd in 29:43.45 and sophomore Amanda Smilgis in 321st at 30:43.82.

The Greyhounds return to action Saturday, October 15 when they travel to Easton for the Lafayette College Invitational. The race is expected to start at 10:00 a.m.
