Jesse Baumann named Director of Cross Country and Track & Field

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- Moravian College has named Jesse Baumann its next director of men's and women's cross country and track & field effective immediately.

"We are pleased and excited to have Jesse Baumann joining our staff to lead our cross country and track & field programs," stated Scot Dapp, Moravian's Director of Athletics & Recreation. "Jesse has an outstanding track record in recruiting student-athletes that have excelled not only in competition but also in the classroom. We look for him to continue that here at Moravian and build on the tradition that our cross country and track & field programs have as leaders in the Landmark Conference and in the nation."

Baumann comes to Moravian after five years as the head women's cross country coach and track & field distance coach at Lynchburg College. Baumann began his coaching career as an assistant coach at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.

"I am honored and excited to Moravian College, and the school's rich tradition in cross country and track & field in producing conference championships as well as All-Americans and National Champions," Baumann said. "I am eager to get started and build upon the program's success at both the conference and national level."

Baumann is a 2004 graduate of Wisconsin-Stevens Point with a Bachelor's of Science degree in watershed management, and he completed his Master of Science Education degree at Lynchburg this past June. As an undergraduate, Baumann was a six-time NCAA Division III national meet qualifier and a four-time All-American in the 800 meters, 1,500 meters and distance medley relay. Baumann is also has USATF Level 1 Certification, which he earned in 2007.
