Ambrosi Earns All-America Honors with 8th Place Finish in 800-meter Run

GRINNELL, Iowa. --- Senior Steve Ambrosi of the Moravian College men's indoor track & field team earned All-America honors for the first time in his career with an eighth place finish in the 800-meter run at the 2012 NCAA Division III Indoor National Championships hosted by Grinnell (Iowa) College Saturday.

Ambrosi posted a time of 1:58.74 in the finals, after the fourth fastest time in Friday's preliminary race at 1:53.22.  Mike Hutton from the University of St. Thomas (Minn.) won the race in 1:52.26.

Ambrosi was making his first trip to the NCAA Division III National Championships, and he earned a point for his eighth place finish, giving Moravian three points in the standings, which put the Greyhounds in a tie for 42nd of 60 teams that scored a point during the meet. North Central College won the men's title with 48 points.

Ambrosi made it three-for-three in All-Americans for Moravian at the 2012 NCAA Division III Indoor National Championships as he joined senior Timothy Layng, who was seventh in the men's pole vault, and senior Abby Schaffer, who finished as the runner-up in the women's pole vault. Wartburg College won the women's team title with 99 points while Moravian was tied for 23rd of 63 teams scoring as the Greyhounds had eight points from Schaffer's runner-up finish.
