King & Lutcza Win Events at Muhlenberg Invitational

ALLENTOWN, Pa. --- Junior Travis King and senior Matthew Lutcza of the Moravian College men's outdoor track & field team each won an event at the non-scoring Muhlenberg College Invitational Saturday.

King won the triple jump with an ECAC qualifying mark of 14.15 meters (46 feet, 5 1/4 inches), which is the eighth best distance in school history and is also tied for 12th on the 2012 Track & Field Results Reporting System list to qualify for the NCAA Division III National Championships in the pole vault, a spot he already had. Those men ranked in the top 20 for individuals and top 16 for relays at the end of the season will compete at the national meet. Lutcza captured the 5,000-meter run in a time of 15:59.54.

Sophomore Kristopher Joint was the runner-up to King in the triple jump at an ECAC qualifying mark of 14.11 meters (46 feet, 3 1/2 inches), which is 13th on the TFRRS list and just missed ranking in Moravian's top ten all-time. Joint also finished as the runner-up in the long jump with an ECAC qualifying leap of 6.85 meters (22 feet, 5 3/4 inches) that is 28th on the TFRRS list.

Junior Jonathan Heberling took third in the high jump, clearing 1.85 meters (six feet, 3/4 inch), and he was fourth in the long jump at 6.70 meters (21 feet, 11 3/4 inches). Senior Jordan Barton placed ninth in the triple jump at 12.30 meters (40 feet, 4 1/4 inches) while freshman Jeffrey Gallagher took eighth in the discus with a toss of 40.43 meters (132 feet, eight inches). Freshman Kyle Kersting placed ninth in the shot put with a toss of 12.09 meters (39 feet, eight inches).

In other track results, freshman Alec Duncan was fourth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 10:06.83 while sophomore Craig Arner took seventh in the 110-meter high hurdles in 16.91 seconds.  Junior Vincent McDowell finished fourth in the 400-meter intermediate hurdles in 57.81 seconds while junior Evan Lick was sixth in the event in 58.76 seconds.

The Greyhounds will return to action on Friday and Saturday, April 13 and 14 when they host the Coach P Open at Rocco Calvo Field and Timothy Breidegam Track. The meet is scheduled to begin at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
