Moravian Takes 9th at 2012 ECAC DIII Outdoor Championships

TROY, N.Y. --- Sophomore Kristopher Joint turned in season best leap in long jump to lead the Moravian College men's track & field team on the second day of the 2012 ECAC Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships hosted by Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute Friday.

Moravian scored 25 points to finish in ninth place of 63 teams scoring points in the two-day of the meet.  Bates College won the team title with 61 points while Rowan University was second with 49 points and Ramapo College of New Jersey took third with 40 points.

Joint posted a distance of 6.87 meters (22 feet, 6 ½ inches) to earn the Greyhounds two team points with a seventh place finish.  Senior Nicco Dalpiaz was 15th in the event with a distance of 6.37 meters (20 feet, 10 ¾ inches).

Dalpiaz also ran in the 4x100-meter relay with seniors Kyle D'Angelo and Timothy Layng and junior Travis King.  The quartet finished 15th in a time of 43.28 seconds.

Senior Steve Ambrosi was 21st in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:56.54 in his final collegiate race.

Moravian will close out its season next week at the 2012 NCAA Division III Outdoor National Championships hosted by Claremont-Mudd Scripps Colleges in Claremont, California from Thursday, May 24 through Saturday, May 26.
