Women Ranked 1st Regionally while Men Rank 2nd Regionally and 21st Nationally

NEW ORLEANS, La. --- The Moravian College men's & women's track & field teams are both ranked in the Mideast Region in the fifth NCAA Division III Regional Team Index of the 2012 outdoor season released by the U S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Wednesday with the Moravian women moving up to first in the region while the men are second. The men are also ranked 21st in the national poll.

The Greyhound women have a total of 252.21 points and sit atop the Mideast Region. Johns Hopkins University sits in second with 246.32 while Salisbury University is third with 242.31 points. Lebanon Valley College is fourth with 207.21 points while Westminster (Pa.) College is fifth with 170.18 points.

The Greyhound men have a total of 271.03 points. Haverford College leads the Mideast Region with 360.30 points. Carnegie Mellon University has moved up from sixth to third with 237.94. Widener University is fourth with 216.28 points and Salisbury rounds out the top five with 212.36 points.

The scoring system for the teams shall be the sum of two factors measured per individual/relay performance on the national descending-order lists: place on the descending order list and a weighed value of the individual/relay performance based on the field ("bonus"). Moravian will return to action on Monday, May 7th for a Last Chance Meet at Swarthmore College. The following week the Greyhounds will take part in the 2012 ECAC Division III Outdoor Championships at Rennsalear Polytechnic Institute. The meet is set for May 17-18.
