Greyhounds Win Four Events at Lafayette/Rider Winter Games

NEW YORK, N.Y. --- The Moravian College men's indoor track & field teams competed at the non-scoring Lafayette College-Rider University Winter Games at the New York City Armory Friday evening.  The Greyhounds had four first place finishers, seven ECAC qualifiers and set a pair of school records.  The meet was run with College and Invitational heats in all events with Moravian competing in the college heats.

Junior Donald Noble won the 5,000-meter run with a school record and ECAC qualifying time of 14:41.50, and the time is 12th on the Track & Field Results Reporting System (TFRRS) list to compete at the 2012 NCAA Division III National Championships.  Senior Steve Ambrosi won the 800-meter run with an ECAC qualifying time of 1:53.34, which is the second fastest time in school history and fourth on the current TFRRS list.  Senior Timothy Layng broke his own school record in winning the pole vault at 4.95 meters (16 feet, 2 ¾ inches), which moved him up to a tie for fourth on the TFRRS list while senior Nicco Dalpiaz won the 60-meter hurdles in 8.58 seconds.

Senior Matthew Lutcza was fourth in the 5,000-meter run in a time of 14:45.88, which is the second fastest in school history and ranks 19th on the TFRRS list while freshman Dillon Farrell placed sixth in 15:13.33, the sixth best time in school history.  Dalpiaz was also seventh in the 60-meter dash in 7.26 seconds, and he finished fourth in the pole vault with a height of 4.50 meters (14 feet, nine inches).  Senior Kyle D'Angelo took ninth in the 200-meter dash in 23.13 seconds.

Sophomore Kristopher Joint was second in the triple jump with an ECAC qualifying leap of 13.82 meters (45 feet, 4 ¼ inches), which is tied for 34th on the TFRRS list but Joint is already in 22nd.  Joint also placed second in the long jump with a leap of 6.58 meters (21 feet, 7 ¼ inches) while junior Jonathan Heberling was third in the long jump at 6.56 meters (21 feet, 6 ¼ inches) and tied for fourth in the high jump at 1.88 meters (six feet, two inches).  Junior Travis King was third in the triple jump with an ECAC qualifying mark of 13.70 meters (44 feet, 11 ½ inches), which is 39th on the TFRRS list while King is already tied for 25th.  Senior Jordan Barton took tenth in the long jump at 5.85 meters (19 feet, 2 ½ inches).
