Track & Field Teams Ranked Regionally; Men 23rd Nationally

NEW ORLEANS, La. --- The Moravian College men's & women's track & field teams are both ranked in the Mideast Region in the second NCAA Division III Regional Team Index of the 2012 outdoor season released by the U S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Wednesday with the Moravian men fourth in the region while the women are sixth. The men are also ranked 23rd in the national poll.

The Greyhound men have a total of 212.28 points. Salisbury University leads the Mideast Region with 279.42 points while Carnegie Mellon University is second with 257.90 points. Haverford College is third with 228.74 points, and Johns Hopkins University is fifth with 192.92 points.

The Greyhound women have a total of 145.03 points. Salisbury tops the women's top ten with 325.19 points while Johns Hopkins University is second with 226.56 points. Westminster (Pa.) College is third at 215.37 points, Messiah College is fourth at 188.24 and Carnegie Mellon University is fifth with a 172.82 points.

The scoring system for the teams shall be the sum of two factors measured per individual/relay performance on the national descending-order lists: place on the descending order list and a weighed value of the individual/relay performance based on the field ("bonus").  Moravian will return to action on Friday and Saturday, April 13th and 14th as they host the Coach P Open.
