Moravian Adds NewTrack & Field Assistant Coach

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Moravian College cross country and track & field coaching staff has added Dustin D. Rommel for the 2011-12 seasons. Rommel will be the jumps and sprints coach.

"I'm extremely excited for this great opportunity," Rommel said. "The tradition and the people at Moravian College make it a unique experience and opportunity, and I'm excited to be a part of it."

As an undergraduate, Rommel ran track and field at Western State College. During his time there he was the Rocky Mountain Conference Indoor Track Champion (2008), and named First Team Rocky Mountain Conference Runner (2005-2009). He also earned a spot on the All-Academic Indoor Team (2007-2009).

Rommel, who is USATF level one certified, most recently worked at Rock Canyon High School in Colorado for two years where he was the assistant track & field coach for jumps and sprints. He also worked at Sports Performance Technologies; there he developed speed and strength workouts while conducting weekly speed clinics for various sports programs, and he was a personal trainer.

Before that Rommel worked as a student sprints coach for the Western State College track & field team. There he designed workouts for the sprinters and jumpers, along with a weight room program.

Rommel graduated with a Bachelor's of Art degree in Exercise and Sports Science in May 2009 from Western State College. He then received his Master's in Sports and Exercise Science in December 2010 from the University of Northern Colorado.
